The New York City Investment Fund is a private fund with a civic mission. The fund is the vision of Henry R. Kravis, founding partner of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., who serves as its Co-Chairman. His goal was to mobilize the city's financial and business leaders to help build a stronger and more diversified local economy. An early-stage, pre-clinical bio-pharmaceutical company focused on developing technology to enhance the efficacy of existing monoclonal antibody drugs, as well as immuno-therapeutics targeted at treating breast cancer, Hepatitis C and other chronic infectious diseases. The company’s core technology is based on twenty-five years of research by Dr. David Cohen, who was co-chair of the Office of AIDS Research of the National Institutes of Health's HIV vaccine development committee, which in the mid-1990s had oversight over the development of worldwide HIV vaccine trials.

NGN Capital led a $6.75M Series A financing of NanIRx Therapeutics, Inc. NanIRx Therapeutics is developing a novel class of therapeutics based on the use of Tat (transactivator protein from HIV) and Tat derivatives, as well as Tat-derived conjugates. The derivatives act through a novel mechanism of action targeting chronic infectious diseases, cancer, autoimmune diseases and organ transplant rejection. The therapeutics fall broadly into two categories either stimulating or suppressing the innate immune system in a disease-targeted manner.
